Symbaloo Bookmarking Website

I discovered this website about two weeks ago on an educational blog.  I can’t remember which one unfortunately.

Symbaloo is a place to collect and organize bookmarks into webmixes.  You can share your webmix with other teachers and/or students.

You can also create tiles that link to other webmixes.  For example, you can create a tile that links to a webmix that you create that only has links about American Presidents.

I am just learning the ins and outs of the program, but I have already made it a favorite on all my computers.  I suggest you try it out.  If you have any questions, let me know.

NEC in the News

As a followup to my post regarding creating a bulletin board of newspaper clippings about NEC, I want to talk about actually getting some news into the Tifton Gazette.

The other schools in the system seem to have articles in the paper on a regular basis.  For example, the main campus today has a front page article about one of the World History classes.

Surely, we have something to submit. If you send the news to me, I will be happy to forward it to the person who works with (not at) the newspaper promoting education.

I will start the ball rolling with an article about library usage during the first month of school.  I can’t be sure it will be accepted, but I’m going to give it a try.

After all, I have to put something on that bulletin board!

Tift County Reading Association

The Tift County Reading Association supports literacy throughout the school system.  They sponsor author visits, a Blue Devil book club, and student scholarships.

It will only cost you $10 to join the association for the year and that money will be used to help our students countywide.

If interested, please contact your building representative.  At NEC, that is me.  Just email me to let me know and I will take care of getting your contribution to the TCRA.
